Hi Wahoos! My name is Kaylyn Flatt and I am so excited to be a part of the Wahoo family again! Once upon a time, I was a swimmer on the Wahoos myself. I joined the team back in 2002 and it was where I fell in love with the sport of swimming. From then on, swimming became a large part of my life. I graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2015 and I headed to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln on a swimming scholarship. My time as a Division 1 athlete and captain taught me a lot about hard work, dedication and just how special a team can be. I am hoping to be able to bring some of that, as well as a little fun, to the Wahoo team family this summer. Since retiring from my career as an athlete last February, I turned to volunteer coaching at both the University and the High School level as well as teaching swim lessons at my local YMCA to stay in touch with the pool. I also graduated from UNL with a degree in Secondary Education in December of 2019. Since then I have moved back home to Colorado and I am currently substitute teaching in the science department at Cherry Creek High School while I look for a full- time job in the area for the fall. With moving home and working at my high school, my life feels like quite the full circle at the moment, but it wouldn’t be complete without a return to the team where I fell in love with swimming for the first time! I am so excited to be back with the Wahoos and I can’t wait to see what this season holds!
Assistant Coach - Emily Madsen
Hi! I have been a Wahoo since I was five and the summer swim team is always a highlight of the year! I am a freshman at the University of Portland studying Elementary Education. At Cherry Creek High School, I swam on the Lady Bruins Swim and Dive team. During my time at Creek, I developed a passion for leading the adventure program, where I taught other students how to kayak and paddleboard. I played water polo on the club team at Creek, with the Colorado Pirates, and the Arapahoe Warriors. I have also swam for the CAC Stingrays, LifeTime, and Sawfish club teams. Throughout the summer I spend my time mainly at the pool whether it's for coaching, lifeguarding, or just for fun! I enjoy spending time with my family, and telling and laughing at corny jokes. I can't wait to have an amazing season!
